How to catch the attention of the King!

Luke 19:1-6 (NIV)

Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.

What was it about Zacchaeus that captured the attention of Jesus in such a dramatic way that he would want to come to his house and eat with him?

It certainly wasn’t anything that he had done or accomplished. It wasn’t his good deeds, his tithing, his praying or his righteous ways.

No, Zacchaeus was a sinner and tax collector!

It was his HUNGER that turned the head of the Messiah. Zacchaeus had a revelation of just WHO Jesus really was and he was desperate to get even a glimpse of his Saviour.

So how much do you want Him?

Let hunger, desperation, desire and passion be the driving force that propels you to come closer to Jesus.

Come out from the crowd, climb higher, seek after Him and grab the attention of Jesus Christ.

Song of Songs 6:5 (TPT)

Turn your eyes from me; I can’t take it anymore! I can’t resist the passion of these eyes that I adore. Overpowered by a glance, my ravished heart—undone. Held captive by your love, I am truly overcome! For your undying devotion to me is the most yielded sacrifice.

Have you ever felt this undone in His presence? Have you ever been so completely captivated by His love as the author is here?

I pray that as you meditate on this scripture today, you would experience this level of intimacy toward Him but also know that His devotion to you is beyond what you could ever fathom; a living sacrifice.
