Ponder it in your heart

Luke 2:17-19 (NIV)

‘When they had seen Him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart’

She already knew the promise was coming; ‘May everything you’ve said about me come true’ Luke 1:38. Her response is both humble and faith filled.

In quietness and confidence she allowed the promise of the greatest miracle of all time, show itself (Himself) off through her, a young girl!

Full of excitement and anticipation after what God had done for her, she kept quiet and simply meditated on it.

It was however the shepherds who announced and spread the word concerning the birth of Jesus Christ the Saviour.

What does God want to do through you? Stay humble and in faith. Follow Mary’s example and be the vessel to birth the miracle.

Keeping the joy

Christmas can be a challenging season for many, and most people I talk to feel very overwhelmed with events, parties, concerts, finalising reports, family gatherings, cooking and wrapping gifts.

With so much going on in our minds it’s so easy to forget the beauty of this season as we get carried away with ‘getting through’ everything.

God has not purposed for us to just survive and get by, but to embrace the true Spirit of this season: to embrace Him. He is Perfection, Glory, Majesty, Divinity. He is Saviour, Messiah and our best friend. And He came to us as a baby boy!

Luke 2:9‭-‬11 (NLT)
Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great JOY to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!

So don’t get too busy for Him. But take a moment, take a breath to imagine Him as a baby, to worship Him and focus on the beauty of Christmas, the beauty of Christ Himself.
