The greatest Gift

As you give and receive gifts this Christmas RECEIVE HIM!

Receive Him as you prepare food. Receive Him as you listen to worship music. Receive Him as you watch children playing. Receive Him as you meditate on His birth.

Breathe Him in and receive fullness of life. Receive JOY, receive HEALTH, receive FAVOUR, receive LOVE.

And praise Him for all you’ve received!

May you be overwhelmed with His presence and consumed with His love this Christmas!

Relationship: the art of loving and being loved

Picture this!…I’ve just loaded up the checkout with all my groceries when I go to grab my purse…my heart sinks.

It’s at home in another bag! How embarrassing! I ponder having to put them all back but then…

I see my beautiful friend at the next checkout and I’m sure she will help me out! Yes! How thankful I am for loving people like Evette.

This was not just a divine appointment, a God appointment, but an opportunity to connect, to serve, to love, to unite and show kindness.

Relationships are so often the answer to many of life’s struggles. God brings the key people for key moments in our lives. We were not made to do life alone but were created for intimate relationship with God firstly, and then others.

God is in the business of bringing us together for a common purpose. When we are open for God to grow us relationally with others, we will not only bring joy to them, but we ourselves will be bubbling over with exuberant joy too!

Take every opportunity to greet, thank, honour, love and serve those you come across. Who knows, you may even be entertaining angels! (Hebrews 13:2)

Sweet friendships refresh the soul and awaken our hearts with joy, for good friends are like the anointing oil that yields the fragrant incense of God’s presence. Proverbs 27:9 (TPT)

Friends of the bridegroom

God is calling out the friends of the Bridegroom to prepare for His glorious arrival. That’s us! We are His friends.

Just like John the Baptist was making way for Jesus’s ministry, we also are like groomsmen setting up and preparing the way for our Bridegroom to appear and return for His bride (His church).

The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.
John 3:29 (NIV)

The groomsmen prepare seats and tables and make sure everything is in order. Why? Because they are full of anticipation and joy awaiting His arrival! They don’t want to let Him down.

Some of us are in the process, even now of preparing banquet tables and setting atmospheres of worship in expectation of the wedding feast and the glorious arrival of our Saviour. Get ready, the Bridegroom is coming!

What is beauty?

In a world where beauty, glamour and looking younger dominate our culture, many are on a search to be physically attractive.

But what does God have to say about all this?

He is not that impressed by all our outward efforts to look like the latest pop star. No. His emphasis is on taking care of our inside. Are we shining His love, looking out for people, being kind, gentle and treating others well?

Are we firstly loving Him and therefore radiating His Glory?

1 Peter 3:4‭-‬6 MSG
Cultivate inner beauty, the gentle, gracious kind that God delights in. The holy women of old were beautiful before God that way, and were good, loyal wives to their husbands. Sarah, for instance, taking care of Abraham, would address him as “my dear husband.” You’ll be true daughters of Sarah if you do the same, unanxious and unintimidated.

This sort of inward beauty that God is seeking will cause a fountain of life to pour out of us and shine JESUS on the outside.

A special blessing

Luke 1:45 (NIV)
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”

There is a special blessing awaiting those who believe that what God has said will come to pass.

Mary’s response showed her faith and because of this childlike faith she is called “blessed”!

Blessed is defined by strongs as ‘supremely blest; by extension, fortunate, well off’.

So it is through your faith in what God has promised that will attract blessing and favour in your life!

A lighthouse of hope

Romans 15:13 (TPT)
Now may God, the inspiration and fountain of hope, fill you to overflowing with uncontainable joy and perfect peace as you trust in him. And may the power of the Holy Spirit continually surround your life with his super-abundance until you radiate with hope!

My prayer for you today is that you radiate with hope in every situation you face.

Whoever you meet, wherever you are, let the hope that is in you overflow into those around you.

Christ is the Fountain of Hope in us, the reason we can be full of life, full of joy and abundantly blessed in every area of our lives.

Let’s not keep it to ourselves but radiate the glory of Jesus to bring hope in a dry and dark world.

For God, who said, “Let brilliant light shine out of darkness,” is the one who has cascaded his light into us—the brilliant dawning light of the glorious knowledge of God as we gaze into the face of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:6 (TPT)

The best form of wealth…

1 Timothy 6:6-7 (NLT)
Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it.

How beautiful it it is to see children content just playing with leaves and flowers and finding joy in simple things.

Being content and living a godly life is what brings us true wealth the scripture says.

Living a generous, thankful life that is focused on loving God and others is really what will bring us true JOY!

As we take our minds off ourselves, our struggles, our needs and wants and fix our eyes on Him, we will experience the fullness of joy.

The life of the godly is full of light and joy.
Proverbs 13:9a (NLT)

The power of laughter and joy.

Proverbs 17:22 (ESV)

‘A joyful heart is good medicine’

When was the last time you had a real good belly laugh?

The Bible tells us that laughing is a form of medicine! It actually has healing properties in all types of diseases by lowering stress.

It helps your body and mind by releasing feel-good hormones.

Amazing! Yet simple!

I encourage you to find ways to have a regular good ol’ laugh amongst friends or by watching a comedy show.

Watch how it lifts your mood and is passed onto those around you!

Keeping the joy

Christmas can be a challenging season for many, and most people I talk to feel very overwhelmed with events, parties, concerts, finalising reports, family gatherings, cooking and wrapping gifts.

With so much going on in our minds it’s so easy to forget the beauty of this season as we get carried away with ‘getting through’ everything.

God has not purposed for us to just survive and get by, but to embrace the true Spirit of this season: to embrace Him. He is Perfection, Glory, Majesty, Divinity. He is Saviour, Messiah and our best friend. And He came to us as a baby boy!

Luke 2:9‭-‬11 (NLT)
Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great JOY to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!

So don’t get too busy for Him. But take a moment, take a breath to imagine Him as a baby, to worship Him and focus on the beauty of Christmas, the beauty of Christ Himself.
