Acts 12:22-23 (NLT)
‘The people gave him a great ovation, shouting, “It’s the voice of a god, not of a man!”Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people’s worship instead of giving the glory to God. So he was consumed with worms and died.’
What happened to Herod that he got so sick?
No one should take the place of God in other peoples’ lives. We must be so careful that we never take the worship of the people or let them in any way see us higher than God.
God will not allow a leader, pastor, mentor or any other authority figure, to be exulted above Himself.
We must point the people to God, to their Source, Comforter, Provider, Counsellor and the all sufficient One.
Their worship must always be directed toward God and never the speaker, lighting, music or the organisation they are affiliated with.
Exhort them to focus their attention on Jesus Christ. When He is the centre, a mighty supernatural power will be released that no human vessel can possibly hold.
