Philippians 2:5-8 (MSG)
Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. He had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion.
Amazing! Even Jesus who was equal with God did not think highly of Himself despite being the Highest of High!
He was the King of Kings and Lord of Lords and if anyone has reason to think highly of Himself it was Jesus.
Scripture says we also should think of ourselves like Jesus thought of Himself. What was that? It says He humbled Himself and through obedience He went to the cross. It was the greatest act of humility ever seen.
It’s time we put aside our positions, blessings and special privileges. We need to humble ourselves enough to associate with the outsiders, give up our seats for the lost and share the blessing we have through Christ.
